Overview of Phong Nha - Ke Bang national park


GEOGRAPHICAL LOCATION The Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park (PNKBNP) is located in central Vietnam, about 500km south of the capital, Hanoi, within the Quang Binh Province at the narrowest part of Vietnam. The western boundary of the Park forms part of the Lao-Vietnamese border, which is only 42km from the sea at his point. The Park is found within the geographical co-ordinates 170 20’ to 170 48’ N and 1050 46 to 1060 24’ E in the Bo Trach and Minh Hoa Districts.

DAY 01:  HO CHI MINH – ARRIVAL (B, L)
Upon arrival, pick up at Tan Son Nhat International Airport, and transfer to hotel for checking in. Free at leisure. Have lunch.
Take a sightseeing around the city including: Reunification Palace - the place to witness the historic event of Ho Chi Minh City, Notre Dame Cathedral and the General Post Office – the unique architectures of French style in Ho Chi Minh city, War Remnants Museum – where displays old military equipment and other related items from the Anti-American War. Free at leisure. Have dinner. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh city 
DAY 02:   HO CHI MINH – TAY NINH – CU CHI – HO CHI MINH (B, L, D)

  
Breakfast at hotel. Depart for Tay Ninh Province. Visit Cao Dai Holy See Temple. Learn more about Cao Dai Holy See – a religion through the fusion of the secular and the religious philosophies of the East and West. This religion is mixed Buddhism, Confucianism, Christianity, Islam, Taoism, and native Vietnamese spiritualism. Have lunch. 
Visit Cu Chi underground tunnels – the famous over 250km long tunnel during the American War. Then visit Ben Duoc Temple. Return to Ho Chi Minh City. Have dinner. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh city. 
DAY 03:   HO CHI MINH – MY THO (B, L, D)
Breakfast at hotel. Depart for Mekong Delta. Visit My Tho city, in Tien Giang Province – the nearest Province of Mekong Delta from Ho Chi Minh City. Full day of excursion to: Vinh Trang Pagoda, boat trip on Mekong River to visit orchards and enjoy tropical fruits, take sampan ride on palm-shaded creeks. Have lunch. 
Enjoy Vietnamese Folk Music performed by local people. Return to Ho Chi Minh city. Free at leisure. Dinner on cruise along Sai Gon River. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh city.  
DAY 04:   HO CHI MINH – NHA TRANG (B, L, D)

  
Breakfast at hotel. Check out for departure. Transfer to Tan Nhat Airport to take a local flight (airfares are exclusive) to Nha Trang. Upon arrival, transfer to hotel for checking in. Free at leisure. Have lunch.
Take an excursion to visit the Oceanographic Institute of Nha Trang, which has the vastest collection of marine organisms of the Eastern Sea. Then visit the Po Nagar Cham Towers, one of the many relics of the Champa Kingdom. Four towers remain from an original eight, each in a different style, suggesting that they were built over an extended period between the seventh and 12th centuries. Afterwards, visit Stone Church to see the unique architecture of French style in Nha Trang.
Drive to I – resort (NOT INCLUDED) to enjoy hot mineral waterfall; hot mineral water swimming pool; or hot mud bathing. 
Have dinner. Free for exploring the coastal city of Nha Trang at night. Overnight in Nha Trang.
DAY 05:   NHA TRANG EXCURSION (B, L) __ DINNER FREE
Breakfast at hotel. Take a boat trip to visit Hon Tam Island, an eco-green island with endless blue sea, white silky sand and tropical forest. Spend a few hours being charmed by the beauty of this topical island, partaking in various water activities. Have lunch on the famous bamboo island – Hon Tre Island.
Then travel to the World Entertainment of Vinpearl land by boat.
Admire Vinpearl’s largest aquarium in Southeast Asia with hundreds of thousands of marine life. Visitors will be moved by the escalators in a 90m long tunnel under the sea.
Participate in all the action, thrilling games (acrobatics, wooden carousel horse, carousel elephant) and the static games (glider, racing, space exploration, skiing, surfing, tram crash). Especially, enjoying the new 4D movie theater.
Watch the water music show
Walk along the wide street of shopping stalls with unique design.
On the way back, have full view of Vinpearl by crossing sea cable car of 3.320m long.
Return to the downtown of Nha Trang, spend the rest of the day at leisure. Overnight in Nha Trang.
DAY 06:  NHA TRANG – DA NANG (B, L) __ DINNER FREE

   
Breakfast at hotel. Check out hotel, transfer to Cam Ranh Airport to take a local flight (airfares are exclusive) to Da Nang city. Free at leisure. Have lunch.
Da Nang is a picturesque city by the Han river, and by the coast of the East Sea with distinctive attractiveness in comparison with other sea cities The first stop is at the Cham Museum in Da Nang, which houses the finest collection of Champa sculptures; some of them may date back to as early as 7th century. Continue to visit Marble Mountains, a scenic spot with mysterious caves, sacred temples, shrines, pagodas and a great view of the surrounding area. The caves can be reached by climbing steps. Free at leisure. Overnight in Da Nang.
DAY 07:  DA NANG – HOI AN (B, L, D)
Have breakfast at hotel. Departure for Hoi An Ancient Town, which is known to early Western merchants and was one of the major trading centers of the Southeast Asia in the 16th century, and now is one of the UNESCO World Heritage sites. Hoi An has a distinctive Chinese atmosphere with low, tiled-roofed houses and narrow streets; the original structures of some of these streets are still virtually intact. Check in hotel. Have lunch.
In the afternoon, take an excursion to visit some major highlights of this ancient town: the famous Japanese Covered Bridges, the Pottery Museum, the 200- year- old Tan Ky House, and the vibrant local market. Have dinner with dishes of specialties of Hoi An: White rose cake, Mi Quang & Cao Lau noodles. Free for exploring the Ancient Town at night. Overnight in Hoi An.
DAY 08:  HOI AN – HUE (B, L, D)

   
Breakfast at hotel. Check out hotel for departure for the Citadel of Hue city. Stop over at the top of Hai Van pass for photo shooting. Upon arrival, check in hotel. Free at leisure. Have lunch.
In the afternoon, take a short excursion to visit Imperial Citadel including: Flag Tower, Ngo Mon Gate, Nine Dynastic Urns, Nine Holy Cannons, Thai Hoa Palace, Forbidden Purple City. Then visit Thien Mu Pagoda – the symbol of Hue city. Tonight, enjoy royal dinner with dishes of typically Hue style specialties. Then take a boat cruise on Huong River to enjoy “Nha Nhac Cung Dinh Hue” (Nha Nhac of Hue Court), a form of Vietnamese court music, that was recognized in 2005 by UNESCO as a “Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity”. Overnight in Hue.
DAY 09:  HUE – HA NOI (B, L, D)
     

Breakfast at hotel. Visit the most beautiful mausoleums around Hue including: Tu Duc Mausoleum and Khai Dinh Mausoleum. Check out for hotel. Have lunch. 
Transfer to Phu Bai Airport. Take a local flight (airfares are exclusive) to Ha Noi Capital city. Upon arrival, transfer to hotel for checking in. Free for exploring Ha Noi Capital. Have dinner. Overnight in Ha Noi.
DAY 10:  HA NOI – HA LONG  (B, L, D)
Breakfast at hotel. Check out for departure to Ha Long Bay – one of the Earth’s most amazing natural wonders. Take a 3,5-hour-bus driving through fertile rice fields to Ha Long. Embark Bai Chay harbor, get transferred to Dragon Cruise by a tender and enjoy a welcome drink. Receive a cruise briefing. Have delicious seafood lunch while cruising among wonderful limestone island. Stop at Ti Top Island one hour for swimming, sun-bathing or getting a panoramic view on island peak. Do kayaking among hidden parts and around Bo Nau cave to discover mysterious beauty of Ha Long. Experience unforgettable memory passing through “tunnel cave” on a bamboo boat to a secluded lake. Take part in a “cooking class” on board making some special dishes with our chef then enjoy it. Drop anchor in calm water area and enjoy some local wine, fruits on the sundeck at sunset.
Have a delectable dinner in cozy restaurant of Dragon Cruise in the middle of Ha Long. Free at leisure. Overnight on Dragon Cruise.
DAY 11:  HA LONG – HA NOI  SA PA (B, L, D)
Breakfast on cruise. Take magnificent pictures, enjoy complimentary tea and coffee. Visit Sung Sot cave (Amazing cave), the most beautiful with millions of surprising stalactites and stalagmites. Then check out cabin. Relax on sundeck for sun-bathing, photo hunting while sailing back to the harbor. Leave Dragon Cruise, have a short rest and take a bus drive to a local restaurant for lunch.
Return to Ha Noi. Have dinner. Check out hotel. Travel overnight by train to Sa Pa, sleeping in four-berth soft-sleeper cabin. 
DAY 12:  SA PA EXCURSION (B, L, D)
   

Arrive in Lao Cai city in the early morning. Have breakfast. Transfer to Sapa – the fanciful town in the fog. Visit villas and churches built in the period of French colonization, especially the Stone Church. Have lunch.
Move to Ham Rong Moutain, the home to some stunning orchid gardens and "rock gardens". Enjoy the surrounding fresh nature as well as the spectacular views of the beautiful valley towards Fansipan – highest peak in Viet Nam and Indochina Hike to the Cat Cat village to see the local minority communities and admire the natural beauties of the area such as the streams and falls deep inside the valley. Have dinner. Free at leisure for exploring the small town. Overnight in Sapa.
DAY 13:  SA PA – HA NOI (B, L, D)
Have breakfast. Visit villages surrounded by terraced rice plantations and linger in the large market area to admire various handicraft articles. Enjoy lunch prepared and served by a local families. Bus back to Lao Cai. Then take a short tour of the city to visit the Sino-Vietnam border and the central market and mall. Have dinner. Return to Hanoi by night train, sleeping again in the soft-sleeper cabins.
DAY 14:  HA NOI EXCURSION (B, L, D)
Arrive in Ha Noi Capital in the morning. Have breakfast. Take an excursion around the Capital. Visit the first place named Tran Quoc Pagoda, a Buddhist relic and national heritage lying on the West Lake. Then visit Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum, the final resting place of Vietnam’s greatest father, walking along Ho Chi Minh’s stilt house where he lived and worked from 1958 to 1969. Continue the trip to One Pillar Pagoda, the one modeled after a lotus flower, a symbol of Ha Noi Capital. Explore the colorful features of the 54 ethnic groups of Viet Nam in the Ethnology Museum. Have lunch at a local restaurant in Ha Noi Old Quarter. Transfer to hotel for checking in.
Continue the excursion including: Temples of Literature (considered as Vietnam’s first University); legendary Hoan Kiem Lake; Ngoc Son Temple. Have dinner. Later in the evening, enjoy the spectacular traditional Water Puppet Show. Overnight in Ha Noi Capital.
DAY 15:  HA NOI – NINH BINH (B, L) __ DINNER FREE
  

Breakfast at hotel. Depart for Ninh Binh Province, famous as the so-called “Dry-Ha Long Bay”. The first destination is Hoa Lu Ancient Citadel, which is once depicted the ancient capital of Viet Nam, settled up in the 10th century. Visit temples of two dynasties of Dinh and Le with a very unique architectures in the old time. Visit the excavation area beside the Le Dai Hanh temple. Explore the vestiges of Royal Palaces ground dated back 10th century. Then proceed to Tam Coc. 
CYCLING RIDE (optional): Those who love to explore real countryside images of Vietnam can proceed a 40 minute cycling ride along country lane (from Tam Coc to Bich Dong Pagoda, estimated time 40 minutes for 5km cycling 2 ways), experiencing the beautiful scenery of lush paddy fields. (PAY EXTRA 100.000 VND/ pax). Finish the cycling ride at Tam Coc dock in time for a buffet lunch in restaurant.
  Board the sampan boats (2 people share a boat) in Tam Coc dock to drift down the river among the villages, mountains and lush rice fields. Passing through 3 caves"Hang Ca - First cave, Hang Hai - Second cave, Hang Ba - Third cave" to get a strange feeling. Return to the dock. Back to Ha Noi Capital. Free at leisure. Overnight in Ha Noi.
DAY 16:  HA NOI – LUANG PRABANG (B, L, D)
Breakfast at hotel. Free at leisure until checking time. Transfer to Noi Bai International Airport to take a flight to Luang Prabang. 
Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel for checking in. Have lunch. Take an excursion to visit National museum,  we visit the impressive stupa of Wat Visoun and the shrine of Wat Aham, Wat Mai; visit Wat Xieng Thong, we then climb up to the top of Phousi Mount for an enjoyable exploration of the sacred, gilded stupa as well as a beautiful sunset view of the city and the Mekong River. From there, we explore Street Night Market, where you can find the lovely collection and handmade textile by local and hill tribe people surrounding Luang Prabang. Have dinner. Overnight in Luang Prabang. 
DAY 17:  LUANG PRABANG – PAK OU CAVE (B, L, D)
  

Breakfast at hotel. Enjoy a cruise upstream on the Mekong River, which also gives visitors a beautiful view of the tranquil countryside as well as an interesting visit to the mysterious of Pak Ou Caves, crammed with thousands of gold lacquered Buddha statues of various shapes and sizes. Along the way, we stop at the village of Ban Xanghai, where they make the distillation of local rice wine. On return, we take a short drive to Ban Xang Khong, well known for its hand weaving. Have dinner. Overnight in Luang Prabang.
DAY 18:  LUANG PRABANG – VIENTANE (B, L, D)
Early morning, Transfer you to airport for your short flight to Vientiane. Upon arrival, Meet your guide and  we start visiting the major sights of the capital; including the oldest Wat Sisaket, the temple with thousands of miniature Buddha statues and the former royal temple of Wat Prakeo previously housed the famous Emerald Buddha Image. On the way to the famous and sacred structure of That Luang Stupa, we stop to take some pictures of the imposing Patuxay Monument, which is well known as Vientiane’s own Arc de Triumph. Have dinner. Overnight in Vientiane. 
DAY 19:  VIENTANE – SIEM RIEP – FLOATING VILLAGE (B, L, D)
Early morning, Transfer to Wattay International Airport to take a flight to Siem Reap. Upon arrival, start Tour transfer to pier on Tonle Sap.  It’s 30 minutes south of Siem Reap, is one of the largest freshwater lakes in the world, cyclically swelling from 2500 square km to more than 12,000 square km in the wet season.  Floating fishing villages dot the semi-submerged forest that lines the flood plane rim of the lake, offering an excellent place to see lakeside rural Cambodia, and a unique ecosystem rich with birds wildlife.  Take a boat trip on the lake to see the floating homes and villages who earn their livelihoods from the abundance of freshwater fish directly under their homes.  And then transfer to Airti Sang Dangkor, to see Cambodian work art….. Have dinner. Then back to hotel for checking in. Overnight in Siem Riep. 
DAY 20:  SIEM RIEP – ANGKOR THOM (B, L, D)
  

Get up early in the morning to see sunrise at angkor wat by Tuk Tuk. Back to hotel for breakfast. Depart for Discovering Angkor Thom Complex - starting at the South Gate of Angkor Thom, Bayon; there are more than 200 enigmatic smiling faces on the 54 towers of the temple. Next visit the Pyramidal Baphuon, Terrace of the Leper Kings where some exceptionally well conserved early carvings can be seen and the Terrace of Elephants, supported by sculpted stone elephants, it served as the giant viewing platform for royal ceremonies. Have lunch.
 Continue the trip to visit Angkor Wat, the largest religious monument in the world. Ending the day with a sunset view at the Phnom Bakheng. Have dinner. Overnight in Siem Riep. 
DAY 21:  SIEM RIEP – PHNOM PENH (B, L, D)
Breakfast at hotel. Check out hotel. Take a 7-hour-driving bus to Phnom Penh city, the Capital of Kingdom of Cambodia. Upon arrival, check in hotel. Spend the rest of the day exploring the city. Have dinner. Overnight in Phnom Penh.
DAY 22:  PHNOM PENH EXCURSION (B, L)
  

Breakfast at hotel. Start the city tour at the elegant Royal Palace; it is the home of His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Norodom Sihanouk and her Majesty Preah Reach Akka Mohesey Norodom Monineath Sihanouk. The Palace is actually a number of structures within a pagoda-style compound.  An awe-inspiring sight, the throne room, or the main building has a tiered roof topped by a 59m tower.  Silver Pagoda; it is the royal chapel, located within the Royal Palace grounds but walled off in a separate enclosure.  The Silver Pagoda takes its name from the estimated 5,000 silver tiles covering the floor of the main temple.  Each tile is made from a kilogram of silver.  Although plundered by the Khmer Rouge, the Silver Pagoda contains some superb Buddha statuary; a few artifacts from the royal collection are displayed in glass cases.  National Museum; it was designed by French archaeologist and painter George Grislier, and constructed in traditional style by Cambodian craftsmen in 1917.  The museum first opened in 1920.  It’s small, but houses an astonishing wealth of Khmer stone, bronze, and wooden sculpture.  Wat Phnom; a small hill crowned by an active Wat marks the legendary founding place of Phnom Penh. Have lunch.  
In the afternoon, continue to Choeung Ek Killing Fields Site; a group of mass graves and a memorial stupa containing thousands of skulls.  Then back to the city to visit the Russian Market (Psah Toul Tom Poung).  This market has a more interesting and varied selection of souvenirs, curios and silks than the Central Market.  Take a boat trip on Mekong River and visit Wat Phnom, a small hill crowned by an active Wat marks the legendary founding place of Phnom Penh. Free at leisure. Overnight in Phnom Penh.
DAY 23:  PHNOM PENH – DEPARTURE (B)
Breakfast at hotel. Frre at leisure until check out time. Transfer to the International Airport for departure. End of services.
